Top Ten Authors I Would Love to Meet

Yay, another Top Ten Tuesday. Haven’t done one of these for a few weeks because they were on hiatus and I didn’t like a few of the topics. TBH I wasn’t going to do this topic but I am really busy with school work and haven’t been reading many books so this seemed like a good option. Plus the more I think about it, the more there are a bunch of authors I would like to meet. I feel like a bunch of these are going to be super repetitive with the authors other people are writing about but whatever.

 

Isobelle Carmody

This is probably my number one, after this the list is pretty much unordered. So Isobelle Carmody is an Australian author who has written a bunch of series. And unlike with a lot of authors I like, I haven’t even read most of her books. I’ve only read one of her series, however I read the first book in that series when I was in year five and I still haven’t read the last book. There are seven books in the series.

This series has had a massive impact on my life and nobody can tell me that this book is trash (well someone has but I refused to believe it) because I love everything about this series. I do plan to reread the whole series before I read the last book, that will happen later this year… we’ll see… the books go from 300 pages (the first one) to 1000 pages (the fifth, sixth and seventh ones). I actually have the series, most of the books I bought second hand so their covers are completely mismatched, and I kind of want to get all the different covers so that I can have a bunch of complete sets but the books are also super old so I don’t know if I’ll ever find the old covers. I kind of want the cover that I originally read for the first book which is a REALLY old version. It has a lot of sentimental value, but I have only seen it at my primary school library and that was like five years ago so yeah.

Just a note for my American readers (if there are any of you) this series has nine books in America because two of the books were split in half because they were so long. So yeah.

 

Shannon Messenger

So Shannon Messenger is another author that has been really important in my life. I read her first novel Keeper of the Lost Cities a few months after it was read and I’ve been buying her books ever since. Except her other series, I have only read the first book of that. It was original and I’ll probably read it eventually but I am so attached to the other series. I know it’s aimed at a middle grade audience and I was already on the upper end of that when I found them but still. I love them.

Plus this was the first book I can remember rereading extremely. Like I reread the first book like ten times back to back because the next one wasn’t out. I legit don’t do that. Like ever. I don’t reread books much… so this exception is important. Plus the characters have grown as I have grown and they are like my kids. Plus my dad and sister read these books too and that is also pretty important to me too.

Marissa Meyer

Ok so that’s pretty much the end of the deep stories. Marissa Meyer is just a really good author, I have read all her books pretty recently but I really admire the way she fits the story together. So that.

Pierce Brown

The Red Rising Trilogy is amazing and super well done. I think Pierce Brown would be super cool to meet. I really like his books… that’s about it really.

Maggie Stiefvater

Ok her writing is amazing and lyrical plus she seems like an amazing person. Maggie Stiefvater does a really good job of getting me to like characters. I really enjoyed The Scorpio Races (and I don’t usually like stand alones) and The Raven Cycle is awesome too (I am only half way through the series though).

I have been listening to The Raven Cycle on audio books and I have found them incredibly enjoyable. I have reviews for The Raven Boys and The Dream Thieves but not for The Scorpio Races (spoilers – I loved it)

 

Rick Riordan

I read all of his books when I was like fourteen (which wasn’t that long ago lmao). I’m a bit behind now and I haven’t read the Trials of Apollo book (but that is only one book) and even though I am enjoying them less than I did when I was a bit younger I still find them incredibly entertaining and easy/fun to read. It’s like coming home and knowing all the characters and I love that. I’m not going to insert all their images because there are a LOT if books but Rick Riordan is someone I would love to meet.

 

Jay Kristoff

I’m all about those Australian authors. I have only read the Illuminae series which is half by him, however I do plan to read Nevernight soon (don’t get your hopes up) because I have heard amazing things about it. Plus I follow him on twitter and he’s cool.

Jay Kristoff sees like someone that is actually realistic for me to meet as well considering that he goes to a lot of book conventions. On another note, does anyone know where I can find dates and locations for some book conventions in Australia because I don’t know where to find that information and I really want to go to a bunch.

 

Susan Dennard

I like her blog, she is pretty cool, I like her newsletter… plus I like Truthwitch. I am part way through Windwitch, I’m liking it so far. Susan Dennard seems really nice and I feel like it would be really awesome to meet her.

Sarah J Maas

I’ve read all her books, she’s a big fantasy author. I feel like the more of her books I read the more meh I feel about her, but I still think it would be cool to meet her. Sarah J Maas does a really good job of having really dramatic and complex plots and I would love to know more about her writing process.

Marie Lu

I really like Marie Lu‘s books. I haven’t read The Midnight Star yet but I plan to do that soon. I think her writing is not necessarily unique, a lot of her books follow the genre trends at the time, but compared to other books out there in that genre they’re really good. She’s quite good at taking the tropes and turning them on their head.

Plus Marie Lu’s books were some of the first books that I reviewed on this blog, so they hold a special place in my heart.
