Top Ten Characters Who Would Make Great Leaders

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish This is a really interesting topic because it says you can pick what you think they would be a good leader of, it can be anything from a country to a bookclub.

top ten leaders

I am going to be supplying a few different options of what I think my chosen characters would be great leaders of. When I first started listing all the characters I thought would be good leaders of something I ended up with over 50 people, so I narrowed down that list quite a bit and now I’ve got 10.

Percy Jackson Series

Annabeth Chase

Leader of:

  • A war council
  • a study group
  • a city government

Because:

  • She does her research to ensure she knows what she’s talking about
  • She is good at making long term decisions and plans for the future
  • She has combat experience (okay maybe this would be less helpful for a study group)
  • She really wants to make a difference and help others

O9VUSY0 (6)

Jason Grace

Leader of:

  • A sports team (I kind of imagine soccer)
  • A fighter pilot squad
  • A scouts group

Because:

  • He’s physically fit
  • He’s decisive and does what is best for the team
  • He pushes himself very hard and has quite high expectations of himself
  • He trusts his instincts

Keeper of the Lost Cities Series

Keefe Sencen

Leader of:

  • A heist
  • A children’s entertainment group
  • A prank show (can you be a leader of that… well I say you can sooo)

Because:

  • He is very good at joking around and making other people feel comfortable
  • He shoves aside his feelings and emotions to get the job done
  • He is willing to sacrifice himself so everyone else can get away
  • He doesn’t really care what others think of him – he is willing to put up with a bit of ridicule
  • He is actually very clever, he just doesn’t think he is

O9VUSY0 (6)

Biana Vacker

Leader of:

  • A sorority
  • A spy group / espionage mission
  • The fashion industry (as a designer)

Because:

  • She is so fashionable and beautiful
  • Her first defense mechanism is to be cold to others
  • She is very good at getting around unnoticed
  • She is incredibly loyal to her friends

Six of Crows Duology

Kaz Brekker

Leader of:

  • A crew of thieves/tricksters (obviously)
  • A bank (as the CEO or something)
  • A self defense class

Because:

  • He isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty (metaphorically, not physically)
  • He knows a lot about the way of the streets
  • He loves money
  • He isn’t afraid to be brutally honest

Jesper Fahy

Leader of:

  • A sniper team
  • A gambling team (can it be a team thing? well I’m saying it can be)
  • A hiking group

Because:

  • He is a very good sharp shooter
  • He has good reflexes
  • He grew up on a farm and is kind of athletic (at least in my head)
  • He likes a good laugh and doesn’t outwardly seem to take anything too seriously
  • He enjoys / is addicted to gambling

The Raven Cycle

Richard Gansey III

Leader of:

  • A cheese or wine tasting tour
  • A school as a school captain (or on the parent committee thing)
  • A country / state

Because:

  • He is very good at getting people on his side / to agree with them – he reads them well and knows their motivations
  • He has options on a lot of things
  • He has an amazing poker face / persona to hide his true feelings

O9VUSY0 (6)

Ronan Lynch

Leader of:

  • A ghost hunt
  • A drinking team (and he’d probably end up in a bar fight too)
  • A community actions group, the type who complains to the government about all the problems

Because:

  • He seems so fearless?? And I don’t know whether it’s just because he doesn’t care much for his own safety or whether he is genuinely not frightened by anything??
  • He isn’t the traditional leader, but he is very investigative in his actions. Like he puts things in motion then can’t really control them.
  • He isn’t so good with sharing how he’s feeling and prefers to show it in his actions
  • I feel like he’d be into the paranormal and finding out where in the world those little hidden corners of magic are

O9VUSY0 (6)

Blue Sargent

Leader of:

  • A DIY team or one of those crafting groups
  • An animal rights (or environmental rights) group (or honestly any other sort of social movement group)
  • A dance troupe

Because:

  • She isn’t the sort of person to just believe something, she has to act
  • She is all about doing things her way and not caring what other people think
  • Her DIY clothes are mentioned so many times
  • In my mind she has a really strong link to the environment and cares about it a lot
  • I know Blue doesn’t dance in the book, but I can just see it so clearly because she’ all about movement and showing people how she feels through her actions

O9VUSY0 (6)

Adam Parrish

Leader of:

  • A group therapy session
  • A car show (think Top Gear) (Again… not really a leader thing…but still)
  • A study group

Because:

  • He goes through so much throughout the series and grows so much that I feel like he would be equipped to provide guidance to others, or at least listen to and empathize with their experiences
  • He loves cars and knows so much about them
  • He is very studious and works incredibly hard
  • He is good with time management
  • I feel like he’s really good with people?? Like Gansey is good at reading people but Adam is good at knowing what they need.

Do you agree with me? Is there anything I forgot?

  1. I really like what you said about Gansey being able to read people but Adam being able to figure out what they need. That right there is four books of characterization summed up in one sentence. Well done!

    Liked by 1 person

  2. YES Annabeth all the way, she is a born leader! And I’ve never thought of Jesper in any leading position because of his goofy tendencies but now that you’ve said it, I can’t help but imagine him leading heists in place of Kaz. I’d bet things would be a lot more fun and unpredictable 😂 I love this list, so cleanly put together <3
