Top Ten Most Anticipated Releases (for the second half of the year)

This is my second time participating in the top ten Tuesday tag. This week the theme is Top Ten Most Anticipated Releases For The Second Half Of The Year. These are my picks.

1. Frayed by Kara Terzis

I have followed Kara’s blog for the past three years or so, and she lives in Australia like me. I have heard her talk about her debut novel on her blog for a while now. Frayed is now out, however I do have to say that it is something that I am definitely looking forward to reading. I am going to have to head out to my local book store and buy it as soon as I am able to.

2. On the Other Side by Carrie Hope Fletcher

Having watched Carrie’s video’s for several years now, I have to say I am very excited for her novel to be out. This book is written from the perspective of the main character when she is quite old – after death actually. I think that this is going to be very interesting to read, so I am looking forward to this one.

3. Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas

This is the fifth and I believe last novel in Sarah J Maas’s Throne of Glass series. I happened to read the first book a few years ago and loved it but I never got around to reading the others until earlier this year. Despite the predictability of some of the plot (highlight space to see spoiler) namely Celaena turning out to be Aelin. I do have to say that this fantasy world has very much so inspired my own writing.

4. Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

This is the sequel to Six of Crows, a novel that I have heard very much about. One of my best friends has been raving about it, and I know that I have to get my hands on it. If this sequel lives up to the high expectations my friend has placed upon it then I know this will be a great book.

5. The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan

I have been a long term fan of Rick Riordan’s novels. Percy Jackson was one of the series that really brought into full on YA novels, along with introducing me to the idea of fantasy which was still set in the real world. I love how Rick manages to create a balance and his characters always seem very much alive. I read the first novel in this series earlier this year and loved it, so high expectations from this one.

6. The Midnight Star by Marie Lu

As I am sure you can tell by the numerous Marie Lu book reviews on here, I am a big fan of her work. I have high exceptions for this novel as I am sure that the plot will go somewhere big. I am also looking forward to seeing how all the characters fare in the battle to come. I will definitely be reviewing The Midnight Star, as the conclusion to The Young Elites trilogy. I am also looking forward to whatever Marie Lu puts forwards next.

7. Lodestar by Shannon Messenger

I LOVE the Keeper of the Lost Cities series so I am really looking forward to this novel. I have waited patiently for each of the previous book releases since I first discovered the series just before Exile (the second novel in the series) was released. The cliff hanger from the 4th book in the series has left me needing more, and I especially need to know if Keefe is alright. I might be doing a full reread of this series before Lodestar comes out.

8. Morning Star by Pierce Brown

I have just finished reading the first book in this series (Red Rising) and I loved it. To start with, I was a bit confused but I really liked all the connection between the characters and where this series was headed. I will be reading the sequel soon, so I am really excited for the conclusion to the trilogy.

9. The Swarm by Orson Scott Card

I loved the Ender Saga, so I am looking forward to this book release. I haven’t read all of the books in the series, however the ones I have read have been really good. The way they are written… I love the originality and the level of confusion that these books have. I really liked the group dynamics in the first one, however the third one was really creative and such a mind twister.

10. Ever the Hunted by Erin Summerill

I don’t actually know much about this author or her writing as Ever the Hunted is her first novel. However I am a huge fan of fantasy and new authors, and when I came across the summary of this novel on good reads (add me on good reads here) I was really interested. I am excited to read this book, and to see how this author progresses.

Please let me know if you are looking forward to these books as well, or if there are any more books that you are looking forward to. I would love to take a look at them. I would also love to know which of these books you would be interested in me reviewing.

  3. I definitely can’t wait to read Empire of Storms (btw, there’s going to be six books) or Crooked Kingdom. The Hammer of Thor, Ever the Hunted, and The Midnight Star are on my TBR, as well. Great list!
